If you have never used Zoom or joined a meeting in this way, here is a link to instructions of how to do so – help joining Zoom

Click here for the digital version of the order of service if you would like to follow along.

The funeral will be streamed as a webcast so there won’t be any option (or expectation) to participate in the stream in any way. Please note that St Margaret’s, the church where the funeral is taking place, relies on a 4g mobile data signal rather than wifi, so please be aware the video quality may fluctuate.

We are fundraising in Ben’s name for a charity to help families directly affected by the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Ben spent some of his youth living there and was deeply saddened by the recent events. We have a Justgiving page set up in his name here:
https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/beneaton

We are also fundraising for the Zamir Foundation a charity who work directly and closely on the ground.
Thank you for taking part in Ben’s service, your physical presence with us will be missed but the fact that you are with us is deeply appreciated.

With love from Anne, Ben (Jr) and Victoria

We were immensely sad to learn of the passing into glory on Tuesday 18th January of Reverend Canon Ben Eaton, who served as Chaplain at Holy Trinity Church from 1988 to 2002 (during which time he was also appointed Canon).

Many will remember his passion, warmth, determination, contagious joy, and his natural exuberance!

Ben was born in South Carolina, studied in Lebanon, trained for the priesthood in Puerto Rico, was ordained for the diocese of Ecuador, served parishes in Exeter and Southwark, as well as in the chaplaincies of Barcelona and St Raphael. He was a truly international priest who touched the lives of everyone he met.

Our thoughts and prayers for God’s peace and comfort are with his wife Anne, and his son, Ben (Jr). May he rest in peace and rise in glory!

Ben’s funeral will be held on Thursday 3rd February at 1pm (UK time) at St Margaret’s Church, Ilkley, LS29 9QL. For those who cannot travel, the church service will be live-streamed (see above for details).
