Why try a Vegan diet?

Below are some useful resources provided by Nigel Bartram that may help you decide to embark on your own vegan journey!

  • If you are going vegan, there are some nutrients that are harder to find or are less easy to absorb when cutting out meat, fish and dairy. Here are some great tips from the British Dietetic Association to make sure that if you are opting to go vegan you are not missing out on important nutrients. Eating more plants is very good for us – however we should take care that we don’t miss out on important nutrients by choosing a totally plant based diets.

Azminda is an experienced dietitian who wrote a book called Vegan Savvy with lots a interesting tips some of which are summarised here:

This pdf highlights the nutrients which may be more problematic if you don’t eat meat, fish or dairy.

Going completely vegan is not for everyone but eating a more plant rich diet with less but better animal products, reducing food waste and packaging, buying local and seasonal where you can and avoiding foods that have been transported by air all support the environment.
